What a bummer
inothernews:

Front cover, Bangor (Maine) Daily News, Wednesday, November 4, 2009.
There are people who celebrate keeping people who love each other apart.  There are people who make it their pathetic life’s work to keep two people who belong together from not being together.  There are people who revel in not letting others be genuinely happy, and making them feel like second-rate citizens in their own country, for the want of “preserving tradition.”
These people are assholes.

My boy @wardcrap made this excellent Ghostbusters/MTA subway parody ad. Remember: “If you see something slimey…say something, slimey. Go to Chris’ blog and see more of the crazy stuff inside his brain.

Halloween!

My Halloween plans:

2009 Great Pumpkin Festival

Cambridge Brewing Company- Kendall Square.

$10 cover gets you an official 16oz. Great Pumpkin Festival glass, and a map with beer descriptions and a layout of the event. Beers will be available, via the purchase of beer tickets, in 4, 8, 12, and 16oz. pours (with some limitations on high alcohol or limited supply beers).

Our patio will become a Beer Garden with 6 guest beers plus an all-night grill with handfoods from Chef David. Inside, the CBC Bar will serve CBC’s 6 pumpkin creations, plus our house beers (for the gourd-phobic). Our back dining room will become the Brewhouse Bar, complete with another 8 taps of guest beers. A limited menu will be available indoors at the bar and limited seating in our front dining room. This is a Beer Fest on Halloween! Come in costume, or we’ll taunt you mercilessly.

Of course, the Great Pumpkin will be obliged to make an appearance – a 200lb giant, ghostly white pumpkin filled with “cask” pumpkin beer, tapped sacrificially by robed monks and offered to the crowds at 10pm.

Beer and Food Menu below the cut.

Farmer's Market

Took a few pictures at the Farmer’s Market this afternoon new set on my flickr.

Dinner.

Tonight’s creation:
winter/root vegetable puree (delicata squash, sweet potato, carrot, parsnip, purple orchid potato, garlic, black pepper)
for the lady: mulled cider & garlic roast tofu
for me: garlic black pepper and cider roasted lamb chorizo (freshly made yesterday).

Winter/Root vegetable puree:
2 parsnips
2 sweet potatoes
2 or 3 carrots
1 mid sized squash
dice ingredients into 1-2 inch pieces. boil on high 1 cup cider & 3/4 cup water. Once boiling add garlic, turn to low heat and let simmer for 40 minutes. Drain. Through back in pan for 2 min to dry out. Puree to desired consistency adding black pepper & garlic. Mix in room temperature butter and serve.
Feel free to substitute some root vegetables for others.

One nice aspect of my meal: Every ingredient I used tonight (except the tofu) came from within 150 miles of my house. I’m not a ra-ra everything should be local organic and natural person but I am big into supporting local small business. For me it’s nice to know all my ingredients were fresh and ended up supporting a handful of regional/local business, and some were organic.

Al Roker dressed as Han Solo and Ewoks running amuck on The Today Show

This has certainly made my pre-Halloween Friday. It gets real at 3:40 in when Ann Curry reprimands an  Ewoks for drinking Vodka, which is proceeded by an Ewok moonwalking and humping Al Roker’s leg. I shit you not. The segment producers must have been raising hell backstage. Ah, the joys of live TV…

I just watched this when it was posted over at WhiteChapel. Pure gold.
